Speech

BYOD
Have you ever thought about how we could save trees if we use technology? Well, I’m going to tell you how. We need to have bring your own device at our school. If you listen I will talk to you about how we can save trees, how students will enjoy learning about technology, and how the school can save money.

If we stop using paper and start using bring your own device, schools would save trees. Did you know that our school uses 1,200 reams of papper a year. Each ream has 500 sheets of paper. So our school uses 600,000 sheets of paper in just one year. In Auckland there are 538 primary and secondary schools. If all the schools in Auckland used as much paper as we do, the city would use 322,800,000 sheets of paper a year. That means Auckland would use 16,140 trees per year.

If our school stops using their own technology and we start using BYOD the school will be able to save money. Firstly the school spends too  much money on technology. Our school uses 100,000 dollars on technology a year. The school spends money on new iPads, computers, Chrome books and iPods. Also it costs money to repair the technology and keep the wifi up. If we had BYOD, the school wouldn’t have to keep all this technology and we could spend that money on other things.

Finally I will tell you why students will enjoy learning with BYOD. We will not need to wait to use technology. If we have BYOD students will get excited and will want to learn. Also if we work on google docs with a buddy and don’t sit together we will still be able to work on it at the same time, and see what the other person has done.

For these reasons I believe that our school should have bring your own device.

The bridge

Once long ago in the forest there was a bridge the bridge was very old. So many animals lived in that forest. That forest was like a zoo because, all sorts of animals lived there.

One day a Zebra and a Cow were walking across the bridge at the same time but they were both walking different ways. So they bumbed into each other. They both wanted there own way. So they pushed each other.

Five minutes later a baby chicken came behined  the cow and tapped  it on the back. The Cow looked, then the Cow picked the baby Chicken up and threw it away. Then a mouse tapped the Zebra on the back. The Zebra turned around picked the mouse up and though it away.

The baby chicken started to untie one side of the rope. And on the other side the mouse did the same thing. When both of them finshed the wooden bridge turned and, the Zebra and the Cow fell into the water.

And then the baby chicken and the mouse walked across the bridge. They saw each other they stopped. The baby chicken went on it's tippy toes, and the mouse went under. Then they waved good bye and they went on walking.

THE END!!!

Report on winter field day

Yesterday on Tuesday the 18th August 2015 did winter field day. Winter field day was at different places. Netball was at Windmill court. There were Rugby, Soccer, Hockey and Netball teams. At winter field day there would only be winter sports.

At windmill court the year five A netball team plus Eve played five games. They played Vicki Ave two times new market and two more schools. They won all there games but the first and last game. It was a year six team.I think the meadowbank school A team did very well.

Charlotte was one of the girls who played netball in the A team. She was goal A and goal S. I asked Charlotte about the netball game. She said that the game was good. Most of the games she was goal A and goal S.

Overall I think all the people who played netball did well.

''For the dog and cats''

Once there lived a farmer who had ten cats and one dog. One day the ten cats were sitting on the brick wall. When the cats were whispering, the dog pulled himself up. Then the ten cats stopped, and started staring at the dog. One cat started laughing then all the other cats started laughing. They all were laughing because they had  never seen a dog on a wall or a fence.

Next the cats moved down the wall, the dog followed. The cats keep moving down. And the dog keep following the cats. The dog was following the cats because he wanted to be friends. When the dog gave up the cats started bullying him.

The dog almost fell of the fence, but he was holding on with his front paws. The two cats closest to the dog started biting his two front paws. All the other cats were holding on to the cats. Then five minutes later the dog was on the ground, and the ten cats were up in the air.

So that is the end of that story.

There once lived a boy called Henry. Henry lived with his grandfather. Henry was four years old. One day Henry and his grandfather went up this really tall stand.

They went to the top were there was a platform. It was very windy. The wind went shooooshooo. They set up for making clouds. It was a leson for Henry.

They needed a metal stick with a circle on the top of it. You needed to blow through the circle.  First the grandfather blew through it.  It made a cloud.

Next Henry tried he could not do it. Henry said " it is as hard as flying". Henry tried again and again but he could not do it. When Henry tried to do it on the fourth time henry bent it. It went snap when it broke.

Henry's grandfather looked sad. Henry wanted to make his grandfather happy. So Henry made astar out  of the bent circle. Henry's grandfather was happy. When Henry made the star it went click.

Since Henry's grandfather was happy Henry made some more shaped. After a long day Henry and his grandfather walked home.

The catch

This story is about a boy who is fishing for the whole town.

The boy was fishing for the whole town because it was the towns one hundred birthday. But since the boy was only 8, he could only fish in the small pond. The small pond only has tiny fish and the boy really wanted to catch a big fish... until one day when a fox jumped out of a gigantic bush.
The fox took the fish the boy caught. The boy was sad because it took him 30 minutes to catch it.

The boy was feeling angry, he was really angry. He thought that he could not catch the fox who had the fish he caught.

The fox ( who was reddish brown. It also had some white on it) took the tiny fish. The fox ran though the gigantic bush. The boy followed the fox because he was determined to get the tiny fish back. The boy followed the fox.

So the boy went through the bush. Then they ran through grass for 30 minutes. After that they climbed  up a really tall cliff. With only tiny pieces of rocks stuck to the side. ( It looks like a  rock-climbing wall ).

Then they ran through grass for another 30 minutes. Then they got to this gigantic river. The boy was amazed. But the fox threw the tiny fish into the pond. Then out of the water a huge fish jumped into the air. When the boy saw the huge fish, the boy really wanted to catch it.

The boy caught the fish and caught the tiny fish he got before. The boy gave the fox the tiny fish. The boy walked to the village with the fish. The whole village ate the fish. The boy was proud that he followed the fox.

The fox turned into gold dust and swift up into the sky were he belonged because the fox was a spirit.

My maths goal reflection

I have improved on my maths goal. But I'am just not there yet. I know I've almost got it.
Also when I did the maths test I got more right than wrong.
That photo is only one of my maths goal. So I will also show you the other one

My reading reflection

My reading goal is accuracy. I had to work on two things. The first one is I can skip the word and come back to it when reading. And the second one is I can chunk letters and sounds based on patterns I know. I think I only need to work on, I can skip words and come back to it when reading.

My writing goal reflection

Writing reflection:
My writing goal is to edit my work. I think I have not achieved my writing goal yet because I forget to edit or check my work. Some punctuation I have no idea when to use it, or I put it in the wrong place.

My key competency goal reflection

I have two key competency goals. The first one is I will keep my writing neat. And my second one is I will get to work.I get to work really well. But I don't write neatly. I only write neat sometimes. So I think I need to write neat more.

Clock-tower story!!!

Once upon a time there lived an ordinary girl named Diana and she loved to dance!  Then one day out of the blue a wizard came into their town, into Clock tower city, that is the town's name!

Everyone in the city was happy until that day. The wizard bossed everyone around. He made them do his chores, cook his food, clean his house, and build him a tower. It was hard work for everyone but one (him)! No one liked him! The wizard just got to rest. It was not fair!

Then suddenly Diana said "we hate our jobs". Everyone else followed Diana's words and they said it too! They all yelled with expression. They shouted at the top of their lungs. Then the wizard said "I will curse a spell on one of you. But for now I will go."

When the whole town was sleeping the wizard came back. It was for revenge! Then he said "I will curse Diana!" So when she was fast asleep the wizard took her. In the morning the people of the town said "where's Diana?" They looked every where but the clock tower. They could just not find her!

That night Diana found herself in the clock tower. Everything had stopped. Everything was black and white except for her. People were frozen. Diana saw her dress and saw that she had a giant cog stuck to the bottom of her skirt. Then she poked at the spinning thing on the clock in the tower. She noticed a piece was missing, so she started spinning there. Everything started working again so she stayed there!

Perth holiday

PERTH

First of all on Wednesday at 11:30 we got to the airport. Me and my sister had thought the trip would be 6 hours. We went on Air New Zealand. It was so annoying because Mischa my sister kept on saying every 5 minutes, "Are we there yet?"( for 1 hour.)

When we got there the time in Perth was 6:45 and in New Zealand the time was 10:45. 30 minutes after we went to our cousins house and had dinner, had a shower and brushed our teeth. 5 minutes later it was time to go to sleep.

In the morning we woke up 4 hours before everyone else. So we waited 4 long hours till everyone was up. After we had breakfast we caught the train, into the markets but since it was Thursday it was closed. So we went to north Perth and did shopping there. When we were in, north Perth I had lunch then we did more shopping.

After that we caught the train again! Finally we went to our cousins house 2 hours after that we went to the beach at 6:30. We were trying to see the sunset but we missed it by 2 minutes. We played in the sand for 30 minutes. The Sand was as bright as glitter. Next we went home to go to sleep.

Then the next morning we woke up 4 hours before everyone else again. When our cousin woke up we had breakfast and went out for the day. Me and my sister loved the park.

When we got to our cousin munnyee  it was almost time to go to the airport 30 minutes later we went to the airport. 2 hours we were on the plane for a long 6 hours.

Then we got back to Auckland and the time was 5:30 in the morning, and we finally we got home!!!

Youth-town

Youth-town

On Wednesday Youth-town came to our school for EOTC week. First we did the roll, then we got ready, lined up and went outside.

First of all Youth-town said what we were doing first. My group did archery first. Everyone got to practise, then we competed in the competition. My team won! But I forgot what the score was!!!

The second activity for my group was Flintstone cart building. The person who was in-charge of it gave us the plan. After that he gave us the instructions on how to make it. If we wanted to make it properly we needed to follow the instructions. To make it we needed to tie the rope to bamboo and the wood. The wood went though the hole in the barrow. Three people got to go on it at a time!

The third activity was problem solving for my group. The first thing we did for problem solving, was finding patterns. We needed to find our way though the patten of small circle rubber mat's.
Then we did the big puzzle. We had two teams, one team did the blue puzzle and the other team did the yellow puzzle.

Our second  to last activity was walky- talkys , we got teamed up. But before we got teamed up we had to put on moquito spray. Then we got in to pairs. We got one walky-talky and a pice of paper and one pen. So we could play nots and crosses, but the hard thing was we needed to do it on the walky-talky.

Our last activity was ti-pi building first of all the person teaching that lesson showed us some of the instructions. Then the three groups started making it. The first thing we had to do, is tie the rope around the three poles of bamboo. Then we finished that bit we got the tarp and, it was very windy so my group got our extra rope ,  put it though the holes tied it around the bamboo!

Then we finished the day and went home!

Can dogs drive cars?

http://www.dogonews.com/2012/12/10/dogs-that-can-drive-a-car-you-better-believe-it

Dogs can drive cars, people teach dogs to drive by sitting on a big soft seat, with a driving wheel in front of it. Normally people teach poodles. In 2012 some did a dog driving test. The dogs did one small loop.
Most of the dogs that did it where from the New Zealand SCPA.
